2006 Illinois Library System Facts
- Library Systems have 2,391 member library agencies:
- 178 Academic Libraries
- 1028 Public Libraries
- 950 School Districts
- 235 Special Libraries
- Library Systems are funded by grants from the Secretary of State's office
through funds appropriated by the Illinois General Assembly.
- Library Systems support shared computerized catalogs of over 278.4 million
resources for over 1,200 libraries.
- Library Systems provide physical delivery of over 10.5 million library materials
annually.
- Library System members shared more than 3 million resources with other members
between July 2005 and June 2006.
- Library Systems offered 1,876 continuing education and training events to
over 21,000 participants between July 2005 and June 2006.
- Library Systems support online public access catalogs containing more than
8.6 million resources for the citizens of Illinois.
- Library System members share over 6.6 million resources through reciprocal
borrowing annually.
